6 tips to keep your sneakers clean
We've gathered all the tips you need to keep your sneakers clean! How to keep them shiny!
Τsneakers are the favourite shoe of young and old alike. They are easily combined with every style and accompany perfectly every look. They are usually the shoe chosen to accompany us on every outing from morning to evening and we spend many hours on them. So as it follows, our sneakers get dirty and we look for the right way to clean them so that they don't get worn out.
Some basic knowledge that will help to keep our favourite sneakers clean, or get rid of stains, are the following:
Clean difficult spots with a toothbrush.
If there are stains on some parts of the sneakers, clean them with soap and warm water using an old toothbrush for best results.
Cleaning of white cords
If your white laces are stained, instead of putting them in the washing machine, it would be better to hand wash them with warm water and soap and let them dry naturally. After washing, the sneakers may have retained moisture, so stuff the inside with paper to absorb a lot of moisture and help the shoes dry faster.
Protection from the sun
Our shoes already receive enough radiation as we expose them to the sun every day, so one solution is to put them inside the house when we are not wearing them and not leave them outside so that the colour doesn't fade or create discolouration. The best solution is to keep them in a dark, cool part of the house.
Difficult stains - White Vinegar
For difficult stains you can use shampoo or toothpaste. Scrub the stains thoroughly with shampoo or toothpaste, rinse with warm water and then wipe the shoes. In particular, toothpaste is a very strong cleaner suitable for tough shoe stains. You will immediately see the difference and the stains disappear. In case a stain has not gone away and is even more difficult to clean, you can try cleaning it with white vinegar. Pour white vinegar on a paper or better yet a cloth and rub the stain.
Mano
If there are minor stains or scratches on your sneakers, use white nail polish to cover them up.
Chlorine
In case you choose bleach to clean your shoes it should be done with great care. Initially you should dilute the bleach with enough water, the ratio recommended is 1 to 5. Clean the stains carefully and rinse quickly with water to avoid yellowing the shoe.
Don't forget that washing your shoes in the washing machine is not recommended as this process can damage the sneakers. The most appropriate method is hand washing with soap or toothpaste, as mentioned above, and rinsing with warm water.
In addition, we keep our men's or women's sneakers in a cool place and do not expose them to the sun for the best possible maintenance.
